Oenone Scott
Oenone, known as Nonny, is a fifth-generation member of the Scott family and joined Applerigg in March 2024 as a Non-Executive Director.
Nonny started her career as an early employee in an energy-tech startup, where she had a wide range of responsibilities. Three years of working alongside developers sparked her interest in coding, and in 2019 she returned to academia to pursue a masters in research, in Computational Biology, at Imperial College London.
Following this, Nonny was then awarded funding through a Doctoral Training Partnership to pursue a doctorate in computational marine ecology, which she has been completing part-time. She has been part of several teaching initiatives, such as the Brilliant Club, where she designed and delivered a course about the Deep Sea to students in secondary schools. In addition to this, Nonny has been the marketing and technology development lead at a freediving club since late 2023.
Nonny’s interests include environmental science and policy, science communication and outreach. She has been part of her family’s council since 2015, and Chair since 2019.
